Winemaking Automation Systems

End-to-end engineering and automation solutions for modern wineries.

Grape Hopper & Destemmer

Harvested grapes are first received into a hopper, where they are conveyed into the destemmer. This machine separates stems from the fruit and gently breaks the skins to release juice. Sensors and automated drives ensure a steady feed rate, setting the stage for an efficient fermentation process.

Pumpover Tanks

During fermentation, pumpover tanks circulate juice from the bottom and spray it across the cap of grape skins. This ensures proper extraction of tannins, color, and aroma compounds. With automated pumps, spray heads, and level controls, ADC systems optimize the pumpover cycle for consistency and quality.

Wine Press

After fermentation, wine is separated from solids using hydraulic or pneumatic presses. These machines apply controlled pressure to extract remaining juice without damaging the quality of the wine. ADC integrates press controls with real-time monitoring of pressure and flow to achieve the best possible yield.

Mixing Tanks

Mixing tanks, equipped with motor-driven agitators, are used to homogenize blends and maintain uniform temperature. Variable frequency drives (VFDs) regulate agitation speed, while probes and sensors monitor conditions throughout. This stage is critical for stabilizing wine before maturation or packaging.

Pulsair Systems

Pulsair systems use timed bursts of compressed gas released from the tank bottom to gently lift and mix the liquid. This non-mechanical method reduces energy use and preserves delicate flavor compounds. ADC integrates Pulsair systems with programmable controllers to give wineries precise, automated mixing control.

Filling & Packaging Equipment

Once conditioned, wine is transferred to fillers for bottling or bulk packaging. Fillers can be configured for bottles, boxes, or kegs, using vacuum or pressure-assisted systems to maintain product integrity. ADC designs automation for fillers, cappers, and labelers, ensuring accuracy, sanitation, and regulatory compliance.

End-to-End Automation for Winemaking

From the first hopper to the final filler, Applied Design and Control engineers systems that support every step of the winemaking workflow. Our expertise ensures efficiency, precision, and reliability across all equipment.
